We are the fruit of roots we did not plant — and the answer to prayers we did not pray.

Our story did not begin with us.

We are returning to Rusk not simply to visit, but to stand on the ground where faith was lived, sacrifices were made, and resilience took root. What was planted here did not stay here. It grew through generations. It grew in us.

Roots matter.

They hold the strength of those who endured.

They carry the faith of those who believed when they could not yet see. They remind us that our lives are built on foundations laid long before we arrived.

To our elders — we honor you. Your endurance became our stability. Your faith became our covering. Because you stood, we stand.

To the next generation — know this: you are rooted. You come from perseverance. You come from prayer. You come from people who trusted God and kept going.

“One generation shall commend your works to another.” (Psalm 145:4)

This is more than a gathering.

This is a remembering. This is a grounding.

May we walk this land with gratitude, carry this legacy with humility, and leave more deeply rooted than we arrived.

This is our legacy journey home.
